Staring Into Somebody’s Eyes for 10 Minutes Can Alter Your State of Consciousness

Image
Staring into somebody’s eyes for 10 minutes can cause you to have “out of body” experiences and hallucinations. ELIAS MARAT   ( TMU )   — You may have heard the term “piercing eyes,” but what if someone’s gaze was so penetrating that it managed to induce an altered state of consciousness? Well, according to one psychologist, staring into somebody’s eyes for about 10 straight minutes can cause you to have “out of body” experiences, hallucinations, and visions of loved ones who aren’t present. The experiment, conducted in 2015 by Dr. Giovanni Caputo of Italy’s University of Urbino, was conducted in a dimly lit room where 20 volunteers sat in pairs while staring intently into one another’s eyes for ten minutes. While the lighting was bright enough to clearly make out their counterparts’ facial features, the dimness was such that their overall perception of color was weakened,   according to   British Psychological Society journal   Research Dige...

Scientists Unintentionally Reverse Biological Age of Humans by Years in Groundbreaking Study

Image
“I’d expected to see slowing down of the clock, but not a reversal... That felt kind of futuristic.”  ELIAS MARAT ( TMU )   — New research has shown that a solution may have been found to the problem of biological aging, not only slowing the process down but actually reversing it in a Benjamin Button-like manner. In a study by scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), volunteers were given a cocktail of three common drugs for one year, including a growth hormone and two diabetes medications, in order to stimulate the regeneration of the thymus gland. Surprisingly, the researchers discovered that the participants lost an average of 2.5 years on their “epigenetic clock,” measured by analyzing the marks on a person’s genomes. The participants immune systems also revealed sure signs of rejuvenation, according to a study   published   in the journal   Nature. UCLA geneticist Steve Horvath, who conducted the epigenetic analy...

Now Means Nothing: How Time Works In Our Universe

Image
https://discovermagazine.com/2018/jun/beyond-time? Time depends on speed and mass, which means it's not as consistent as we think. By  Carlo Rovelli RELATED TAGS:  PHYSICS 116 Agsandrew/Shutterstock We conventionally think of time as something simple and fundamental. It flows uniformly, independent of everything else, from the past to the future, measured by clocks and watches. In the course of time, the events of the universe succeed each other in an orderly way: pasts, presents, futures. The past is fixed, the future open . . . and yet all of this has turned out to be false. One after another, the characteristic features of time have proved to be approximations, mistakes determined by our perspective, just like the flatness of Earth or the revolving of the sun. The growth of our knowledge has led to a slow disintegration of our notion of time. What we call “time” is a complex collection of structures, of layers. Under increasing scrutiny, in ever-g...

Quantum Mechanics Double Slit, Entanglement & Flatland

Provocative Cosmology" - a phenomenon whereby all matter within the universe is connected is both discussed and explained. This is what Quantum Physicist refer to when they use the term "Entanglement".  Flatland, Exploring Other Dimensions - It explains what the Quantum Physicists refer to when they talk about 'other dimensions'.
